Not only will a gondola ride brighten your day, it will give you incredible views of the surrounding landscape. There are also chances to sight some some of its native wildlife. The gondola takes the strain out of hiking. It is ideal particularly for families and those who want the views without the strain of a lengthy walk at an incline. The gondola is the perfect solution, and will of course, brighten your day.
We chose to hike up Sulphur Mountain, then caught the gondola to get us back down after our sight seeing.
Lake Louise is a glacial lake located within Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada, situated 5 km west of the community of Lake Louise and the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1). The lake is renowned for its vivid turquoise waters, which result from rock flour carried into the lake by meltwater from the glaciers that overlook it. It is a popular destination for both summer and winter activities, with the surrounding area offering opportunities for hiking, skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, canoeing, ice skating, and snowmobiling.
The lake is named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria and wife of the Marquess of Lorne, who served as Governor General of Canada from 1878 to 1883. Originally known to the Stoney Nakoda First Nations people as Ho-run-num-nay, meaning “Lake of the Little Fishes,” the lake was first visited by a non-Indigenous person, Thomas Edmonds Wilson, in 1882, who named it “Emerald Lake” before it was renamed.
